Teeth Whitening Results: How Long can I Expect them to Last?
Posted on September 8, 2015 in Teeth Whitening
Here at the practice of Dr. Michael Kosdon, we offer both in-office teeth whitening procedures and customized at-home whitening kits designed to effectively lighten the shade of your teeth for a beautiful, winning smile. How long the results may last from these teeth whitening treatments depends on which option you choose to receive as well as your lifestyle and dietary habits.
While our at-home kits can be very effective, one thing to note is that the results typically do not last as long when compared to a full in-office teeth whitening procedure. An in-office treatment often yields results that last from six months to two years. In fact, some patients experience the effects for even longer periods. If you have an in-office whitening procedure, there are ways you can maintain the effects for as long as possible. Some of the things you can do include:
- Avoid consuming red wine and coffee as much as you can. Tobacco use should also be nixed. These products can significantly stain and discolor the teeth.
- Have a “touch-up” whitening treatment every now and then. It can significantly lengthen the results.
- Be sure to talk with Dr. Kosdon about when you may need a touch-up in the future. He can also give you advice as to whether an at-home whitening kit may be useful to enhance the effects of your in-office treatment.
Our in-office whitening treatments are custom-crafted to suit your needs and goals. These procedures can give you much longer-lasting effects than an over-the-counter teeth whitening solution, not to mention near-instantaneous and significantly noticeable results.
