All-On-4® (Implant-Supported Dentures) vs. Dentures

While traditional removable dentures can slip and shift uncomfortably along the gums, impede speech, and keep you from enjoying a wide range of foods, implant-supported dentures benefit from the added stability of dental implants. This approach typically involves four or more titanium dental implant posts surgically placed within healthy jawbone tissue that act as sturdy anchors for each full-arch denture. Whether you desire to replace all of your upper and or lower teeth, or simply to upgrade your traditional dentures, a customized implant denture treatment plan developed by Dr. Michael Kosdon and one of his preferred implant specialists can deliver results that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Implant dentures also have the added advantage of preventing jawbone atrophy, which is a common concern when natural teeth are lost or removed.

Many patients who visit Dr. Kosdon to discuss implant dentures have previously heard about the All-On-4® method, or “teeth-in-a-day” as it often called, from advertisements. Although this technique may be advisable for some individuals, Dr. Kosdon and the implant dentists he works with prefer to develop personalized implant denture solutions that are unique to each patient’s needs, goals, and budget. A given treatment plan can use up to eight dental implants per jaw to deliver the most secure, long-lasting, and natural-looking end result—the most suitable plan for you (if you are a candidate) will be determined by the condition of your jawbone and your treatment preferences. It is important to understand that even while some implant dentures plans are marketed as “same-day”, high quality implant dentistry is always completed in phases to ensure proper healing, optimal aesthetics, reliable function, and a comfortable fit.
